I love colour. Throw in some textured fabric as well and that’s even better. I bought these bags in Little India when I lived in Singapore, but then I never used them. They weren’t big enough for shopping bags and weren’t really ‘me’ for going out. Turning these old bags into cushions was super easy.
It was way easier than I thought it would be too. I simply had to remove the handles by unstitching a bit each side and they easily came out (below left). Then I re-stitched the openings by hand using an invisible stitch. So just like that, two colourful boho cushion covers. I didn’t even bother to remove the interior pockets, so they are still bags on the inside.
After a visit to my favourite outlet store for cushions and throws I have two new looks for a bedroom. Not bad for a few hours work. They went well with the other Oriental accessories I had collected in my travels. So if you have some old bags lying around, turning them into decorative cushions is pretty easy.
